What's Shaken Café – Cozy Black Woman-Owned Coffee Shop & Cupcake Haven in Schererville, IN

I have been searching for about a year for my favorite local coffee shop and today I have FOUND IT!! From the moment I walked in the door the wonderful experience began with a welcoming smile and greeting from the owner along with a clean and visually appealing atmosphere. I enjoyed a biscotti latte and pistachio cupcake while my husband had a brown sugar latte and an oreo cupcake which all was FANTASTIC. I recommend this place 100% and know you will also have the same welcoming and yummy experience as I did.

I went here from a recommendation from my mom and loved it!! The owner was so incredibly welcoming. I love that it is a black woman owned business! The cupcakes were amazing and the cafe was decorated beautifully. I hope this cafe continues to prosper! I’m already planning my next trip here!

A MUST try if you’re looking for a delicious sweet treat, me and my siblings all enjoyed our treats so much! The cafe interior is beautiful and the amazing customer service truly made this experience a 5/5. We highly recommend the oreo shake and cheescake icecream, and you cannot go wrong with any of the cupcakes. Such a beautiful and kind family, we will definitely be back !

Came across this spot randomly while looking for a place to grab coffee and get some work done with my wife. It’s about 25 minutes from our house, but absolutely worth the drive! From the moment we walked in, I was blown away by the cozy, homey vibe. The owner was super friendly, helpful and the lattes were absolutely amazing!! I had the brown sugar latte, and my wife tried the Biscotti latte. We also grabbed a couple of cupcakes (pistachio and Oreo), which were delicious. I’d give this place 50/10. Not just for the menu, but for the family-friendly atmosphere and overall vibe. We’ll definitely be coming back frequently!

Stopped in for a sweet treat and was not disappointed! Everything was so fresh and delicious. My Husband and I grabbed a Red Velvet, Blueberry, and Chocolate Turtle cupcake. The staff were so welcoming and kind. We will be back for more, thank you!

The environment is very calm & aesthetically pleasing as well as welcoming. The family who owns this business is extremely kind! Everything we got was absolutely delicious. We got the strawberry cheescake shake, iced biscoff latte, turkey club on a jalapeño bagel & the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant (add bacon). I will 100% be returning. They also have a points rewards system as well (I love when businesses have this!) please patronize!!!!!!!! Edit as of 11/22/25. I went back again today & got the strawberry cheesecake shake, the 3 cheese grilled croissant & the berries & bananas açaí bowl. Everything was again 10/10. This açaí bowl tops anything I have EVER had in the midwest. I used to eat açaí bowls every summer when i would stay with my godmother on the west coast & for years have searched for anything remotely as good as “Everbowl” in Cali. This is the FIRST place ever to have an açaí bowl near as good & dare I say BETTER!!!! They have cupcakes as well that I forgot to mention before that are delicious too!!

My new favorite place . The owner(Tene) is an absolute joy! Ive been here twice. One with hubby and once with my bf and her kids and my kids. I will come back 1000 times. The atmosphere is so peaceful and she come and greets every customer when they walk in. Her biggest concern is making sure you are comfortable and happy with the food. Came the day before Thanksgiving and we had a ball! We sang and danced and ate and talked like old friends. I was having a rough week and this was so nourishing to my body and spirit. The food is . So chicken salad on croissant with bacon , topped with parm and parsley. Delicious. Ate it so fast I forgot the pic. I had green smoothie with oatmilk. My kids had sunrise smoothies and cupcakes. Bagels and wellness shots we had so much and I didnt take pic but there was nothing that didn't hit the spot. Cupcakes are so worth it and filling. The owner and her daughter's are so pleasant and professional. Every customer that comes in.She comes from behind the counter, greets them,makes sure they are happy and is such a welcoming environment. I cannot wait to go back. Did I mention she owns the spa next door? Tene Moi. I cant wait to go there. This post would be so much longer with all the details of how she treated us as people and how amazing she and her daughters are at serving and nurturing their customers except my phone is dying. As a sweets lover and a baker I have not found a place that has homemade tasting sweets that are WORTH the hype. Amazing flavor, not overly sweet, and just delicious. I’m missing a picture of the Oreo shake (husband and son finished it right away it was so good) but we had the shake, peanut butter cookies, banana pudding cupcake and peach cobbler cupcake. All were AMAZING. The staff is all family and ALL have down to earth customer service. Bringing my 4 month old and 19 month old places is hard since everyone wants to touch the babies. They adored them without physical touch, made my 19 month old less shy and just created an overall pleased experience. Flavor, density/moistness of cake, ice cream quality, and COOKIES, were absolutely worth a try!
